This Policy is designed to help you understand our information collection practices depending on your relationship with us. It should be read in conjunction with any other applicable policies, terms, and conditions in place between you and us.
This Privacy Policy applies to users within the United States. If you access Bitezar from outside the U.S., some policies may not be applicable. If you access our Platform from the U.S., the entity responsible for collecting your personal information is:

TERMS OF REFERENCE
To make this Policy more user friendly, we want to start by introducing you to what we mean when using some of the key terms in this Policy.
- App: The Bitezar app for mobile devices.
- Platform: Our Website, App, and online services and products.
- Store / Partner / Vendor: Businesses using the Platform to list surplus food items for sale.
- Food Items: Items listed for sale by Stores or Partners.
- Bitezar: (and variously "we", "us" and "our") refers to our company Bitezar, Inc. which controls your personal information.
- User: Consumers using the Bitezar Platform.
- Website: All domains on *.bitezar.com/*.
- Cookie Policy: Refers to the cookie policies for our Users as applicable.
INFORMATION WE COLLECT
We collect the following types of information when you use Bitezar:
4.1 Information needed to use the Platform
a. Account Information
- Users: Email address for account creation and management.
- Vendors: Email address, store details (phone number, store address, store name, role within the store), product listings, and images.
b. Payment Information
- Payments are processed via Stripe, which securely collects and stores payment details. Bitezar does not store full payment information.
c. Usage and Transaction Data
- Users: Order history and purchase details are retained for compliance and customer support. Temporary shopping cart selections are stored until checkout or manual removal.
- Vendors: Sales, orders, and store performance tracking.
d. Device and Preference Data
- Users: Email notification preferences are stored in our database. Location settings are stored locally on your device.
- Vendors: Email notification preferences are stored in our database. Camera settings are stored locally on your device..
e. Location Data
- Users: When you use the App, we will collect some personal information about you as a User. Without it, we would not be able to provide all the services requested. This information includes:
Geo-location: country and your approximate location depending on whether you choose to share your location with us. With respect to geo-location, we process this information based on your consent, which you provide (and may at any time revoke) in the settings on your phone or tablet. You can disable location tracking at any time in your device settings, but product discovery features may not function properly without it.
4.2 Information automatically collected when using the Platform
For users and vendors:
- Usage Information: Pages viewed, searches, purchases, and actions performed on the Platform.
- Cookies and Similar Technologies: As described in our cookie policies.
4.3 Information you chose to give us
For users:
- Additional personal information provided via forms, surveys, promotions, or customer support.
- If users voluntarily share health-related information (e.g., allergies), we process it based on legitimate interests.
4.4 Information collected from recipients of our email communications
For both users and vendors:
Bitezar uses external service providers for email communications. These services track recipient interactions, including:
- Email opens (IP address, user ID, email address, date, time).
- Clicked links within the email.
- Whether the email is accessed via mobile or browser.
- Operating system used.
- Associated campaign or communication.
Bitezar receives reports with this data to analyze engagement and improve future emails. Data processing is based on a legitimate interest in optimizing email outreach. Recipients can opt out anytime via the unsubscribe link in marketing emails.
HOW WE USE THE INFORMATION WE COLLECT
We use the information collected for the following purposes:
For Users of our App this includes:
- To create and manage your account with us and process your orders,
- To process transactions securely via Stripe,
- To customize your experience based on your interactions with the Platform, e.g., by showing you a list view of nearby Stores,
- To send email notifications based on user preferences,
- To comply with legal and regulatory requirements.
For Users of the Store side of our Platform this includes:
- To provide and improve our marketplace services,
- To create and manage your Store's account with us and processing orders for Food Items at your Store,
- To inform your Store on orders, payment and required actions,
- To inform Users of updates from your Store, e.g. cancellations,
- To manage payout to your Store for Food Items sold,
- To send email notifications based on user preferences,
- To comply with legal and regulatory requirements.
We will use some of the personal information we collect about you for the purpose of allowing us to get in touch with you. This includes:
- responding to your e-mails and/or support inquiries,
- sending you notifications of technical or legal nature,
- sending you notifications and announcements about us and our products via email notifications to the extent that you are opted in to receiving such communications.
We do not sell your personal information with third-party advertisers.
REASONS WE SHARE INFORMATION
6.1 Third party geo-location services
We use Google for geo-location services to support platform functionality.
Google content is subject to the then-current versions of the: Google Privacy Policy at https://www.google.com/policies/privacy/. We encourage you to familiarise yourself with these terms before using our Services.
6.2 Public authorities
We may disclose your personal information to courts, law enforcement, governmental or public authorities, including to the police in connection with criminal investigations, only if and to the extent we are required or permitted to do so by law.
ACCOUNT DELETION AND DATA RETENTION
You can request to delete your account within the Bitezar app or by contacting support. Our standard deletion process takes up to 30 days.
a. Customer Account Deletion
- Account access is disabled immediately, and the user is logged out.
- Order history and purchase records are retained for compliance.
- All other account data is deleted within 30 days.
b. Vendor Manager Account Deletion
- Account access is disabled immediately.
- All other account data are deleted within 30 days.
- Orders and products remain associated with the store as this belongs to the store and not the manager.
c. Vendor Admin (Store Owner) Account Deletion
- Your access and access for all store managers is disabled immediately.
- Stores and product listings are hidden from customers and marked for deletion.
- Stores and products remain hidden for 30 days before permanent deletion.
- Order history and purchase records are retained for compliance.
Reversal Option: If you change your mind, you can contact support within 30 days to stop the deletion process before it is finalized.
SECURITY
We are committed to protecting your personal information and have implemented appropriate technical and organizational security measures. We use Google Cloud services to host and store your data. All information is encrypted both during transmission and when stored, ensuring your data remains secure.
CHILDREN'S PRIVACY
Users must be 18 or older to use our platform. We do not knowingly collect data from individuals under 16. If we discover such data, we will make reasonable efforts to delete it. To report a concern, contact us via the "CONTACT INFORMATION" section.
YOUR RIGHTS
You have the right to:
- Request access to your personal data.
- Correct or update your information.
- Request deletion of your account.
